When you host your Perl scripts with PerlHost.nz you can ignore Step 1, it's obsolete...
You don't even need to read the install instructions 🫣
Simply upload your Perl files and go have a rest, every hour our server sets up everything you need, changes owner and permissions, you don't even need to chmod the .pl/.cgi files, it's all done for you!!! 😎
And it stays that way, no more 500 errors due to bad permissions 🤓
Then run your setup script or in some cases just login to confirm all is good 🥰
👌 We have almost every Perl Module installed already but will also install any Perl Modules for you if needed 👌
(Step 1) From the overly comprehensive install booklet 🤯
change owner & group to apache:yourusername on EL & www-data:yourusername on Debian,
you shouldn't need to chmod your files but if the .pl files aren't 755 then change as stated in the manual.
If you are unable to change owner, you must CHMOD directories; Variables, Members, Messages, Boards, Backups, Languages & a miriad of other files to 775 recursively & files inside & outside those directories to 664 or even worse 777/666 😮
continuing...click this link to read 7 pages of directories & files you must chmod before even running setup 🥵 🤢 😭
